I managed to rework the persistence code so there is one cookie value per tree (if using multi trees on a page like i am) that hold a delimited string (as long as you like) of key / values. seems to work well now.

Paul,

It is indeed the limit to cookies. The only way to stop the session from being dropped is by not using persistance.

a cookie can only store 20 key=value pairs the cookie that is used is the data cookie stores the ASP session id key - It looks like the bigger the tree gets the more more entries are recorded in the cookie and it looks like  the asp session id is "pushed out" or overwrote or clipped???

Think this is to do with the cookie persistance - can't recreate the problem when usePersistence : false

When i expand all / collapse all on a large tree the session variables in my ASP session drop - this is not due to timeout.

Any ideas as to why?

Thanks!
Paul.
