Somethings is say'd here : http://www.htmlgoodies.com/beyond/j_vs_js.html

But the text is wery focused on some tehcnical matters.

The main problem with Java is, that:

1. Not all client´s supports java, the java support is about 80 - 90 % and going down.

2. When there is a java applet inside a html page on a windows pc. The whole pc can start to act slow and strange.

3. It is not posible to make a wery nice design using java, the design will always seem a little ugly java like. (using javascript and html you can make exsatly the design you like)

In some cased stuf must be maded using HTML and JavaScript in other cased you can use a javaapplet or an ActiveX. It depends on what you whant to make.

Best Regards

But you cannot realy compare those two. They are wery different.

There are a million reasons not to build web-pages using Java-Applets.
