 scroll property via DOM, Scott Blanchard, September 16, 2003

Subject: scroll property via DOM From: Scott Blanchard Date: September 16, 2003

I have an app that uses frames (like this webboard). To prevent IE from reserving the right edge for a scroll mechanism, I have set scroll=no on the frameset that contains my left hand menu. This works fine most of the time, but when I load my graphics manager in that frame, I need a scroll mechanism. Since this must be cross platform, I decided to try this code to the top of my graphics manager file:

   top.parent.document.getElementById('x8main').setAttribute('scrolling','auto');

My intent was to temporarily enable scrolling on this frame and turn it off before the page is unloaded. However, this code seems to have no effect on the frame. Why?
