First I'd like to say that I haven't read the patent and the info I've got is through news sites so it may not be correct.

As I understand the patent is about embedding applications (plugins) in a WEB PAGE. It also requires the data to come from another domain or another document.

I've seen 3 possible solutions/workarounds to this.

1. Make sure the data and the document come from the same host.
2. Use inline data using the data: URL protocol. This makes the data part of the document.
3. Show a button instead of the plugin and have the user click it to open the application in a new window.

If 1 is possible then 2 is not needed
