I've found the bug. The tooltip use a dissolve effect with the Alpha filter. If I disable it the second filter (for alpha PNG channel) doesn't work fine.

You're right when you say "Microsoft can't implement alpha channel", but they can't implement THEIR DirectX filter too. :-)

Another thing: when I set a global style with, for example, TD { ... }, I apply it to entire document <TD> tag. But I've read on w3c CSS reference that you can override (like C++) the style with a clause TD:attribute=... { .. }. On Explorer it doesn't work. It's another microsoft bug?

I can verify this bug. It is a bug in the filters provided by MS and I haven't been able to work around it.

The problem occurs if any of the parents of the image has a background color (image?) and then another parent of that has a different background color and a filter.

Hi, I've tried your script for PNG trasparency. It's a very good work.
But I've still a problem. I use a floating help (like a "tooltip") with an image into. The prob it's that the trasparency work, but too much! The trasparent area show under the "tooltip" too. How I can substitute the trasparent area with a color? Z-Index don't work.
Here the source (it's a java string):
'<table border="0" width="100%" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="1">'+
'<tr><td width="40%">'+
'<img src='+imgSrc+' height=47 width=48>'+
'<td valign="top" width="60%">'+
'<font class="tooltipcontent">'+TContent+'</font>'+
