I have been running XTree under very stressful conditions (moreso than yours) for over a year and never seen any problems.

I had this issue discused a while ago, several people also made notice of the fact, the xtree component just completely fucked up the browser. Also Erik acknowledged he experienced the problem while reproducing, but he did not know a solution for this issue.

This had to do something with innerHTML bugs in the Microsoft implementation, which is well documented in the Microsoft Knowledge base.

You cannot say to customers, oh well, there is nothing we can do about this bug, you'll have to kill the process once in a while thru taskmanager and restart your web application.

Untill this issue is not solved, I cannot advise people to use the widget in a production environment. Very painfull, while the widget is just nice, but only that bug drops a dark cloud over the widget. For your hobby ok, for use by the regular office user, no.... they get stressed when such things happen.

I use it in quite a few commercial products, some with over 5000 nodes and the performance once the tree has been generated is quite acceptable.
However the time needed for the initial generation is way to long, this could be reduced by either doing part of the generation work on the server side, or by using xLoadTree.
The 2.0 version of xTree will address all of these issues and the performance should be much improved.

This is not the only problem, you'll have. Never noticed your tree hanging/freezing and killing your browser? I did.
For production the xTree component is not stable, for hobby it will do :)

hi,
i am currently having a problem with attaching 1000 nodes to my tree... it takes too long to load....
i tried attaching a window.status=("loading " + i) in my code, and i could see that at first, it loads very fast (that's from 1 to 80) and it gradually slows down to 1 node added per second as it reaches the 400th node....

is there a way to speed it up???

thanx... =)
