K guys... I figured out a solution that worked for me and I thought I would share my findings.

I changed the
var tabIndex = 0;

TO

var tabIndex = document.formtab.viewtab.value;

and then created a form that held the value of the tab (ie 1, 2,3, etc) of the tab I wanted to display. I'm using php so this makes it easier for me I just pulled it from the querystring. Hopefully this will help!

 if ( this.useCookie ) {
  tabIndex = Number( WebFXTabPane.getCookie( "webfxtab_" + this.element.id ) );
  if ( isNaN( tabIndex ) )
   tabIndex = 0;
 }
 this.selectedIndex = tabIndex;

That is exactly what I would like to do. There must be a way to do it, 'cause when you reload a page, the same tab remains selected.
