Subject: Strategies For REALLY big trees (1000's of nodes) From: Matt Date: November 30, 2004

Hi All,

Was wondering if anyone might share their experience using XTree for large trees with 1000's of nodes nested many levels deep.  It's unweildy for me to load the enitre tree at once.  Was hoping that loading child nodes for the last node opened might be possible.

I'd like to try to get away from refreshing the entire page each time someone clicks a link.  That seems a little kludgy to me.  So... Was thinking that I could create the tree in an iFrame and just refresh the contents of that iFrame when nodes are expanded.  What I'm wondering is, can I attach some behaviour to the + beside each node, so that some javascript was executes each time a plus was clicked?  I know I can execute script when clicking directly on the item, is it possible to mimic this behaviour in the +?

Otherwise, is there any other strategies people have used with xTree and large trees.  I'm thinking of a tree with 5000+ nodes and a maximum depth of 10.

Many Thanks....
