Hetal,

I have tried to write my own modal dialog widget. But it seems there has been a road block, that being "How to thread the modality of the popup/action/return synchronously".

It seems IE has their own showModalDialog method which performs this multi-threading/blocking (blocking until the user hits ok/cancel) and then returns processing back to the caller who then retrieves window.returnValue.

The same holds true for mozilla code. It is all performed in the native code.

I could not find a javascript solution to this.

Maybe erik has some suggestions as how to implement a customizable modal dialog... or maybe he even has one to share.

Could you describe a bit more what you are trying to do?

If you are using IE and showModalDialog then the returnValue is returned by the call to showModalDialog()
